STEPHEN KESHI SET TO EARN 84 MILLION NAIRA ANNUALLY

Stephen Keshi will reportedly sign a new deal with the Nigeria Football Federation(NFF) and will now be earning seven million Naira per month.

The deal is expected to be a 12-month contract that will elapse at the end of 2015.

Keshi’s last contract with the NFF which ended after the 2014 FIFA World Cup tournament was at N5million per month.

And one of the reasons why a deal failed to be brokered since then was the haggling over the price he wanted to be paid.

While the previous NFF board were said to have been insistent on retaining the N5million price-tag that he was paid, some reports claimed that Keshi wanted N10million, which stalled the deal.

But with the turn of events of late, and also the intervention of government which saw Keshi brought back after he was dismissed in October, a truce seems to have been reached.

Keshi will now earn N7million per month, which will culminate into N84million by the time the contract expires next year.

GUNMEN INVADES DAMATURU THIS MORNING:ATTACKS YOBE STATE UNIVERSTY

Gunmen, suspected to be members of Boko Haram, stormed Damaturu in the early hours of today and began shooting and bombing the city. The attack, which was ongoing as at 7.30am today, has seen residents of the town scampering for safety.

According to reports, the mobile Police base which is in the outskirts of the town has been burnt down and many state institutions have also been raided by the rampaging gunmen who are now reportedly advancing to the main town of Damaturu.

They have also attacked some schools, including the Yobe State University located in Damaturu. The students have taken to the bushes for safety. There are also reports the militants are advancing to the government house with the aim of taking it over. More details later

PAUL WALKERS DEATH:ONE YEAR STILL IN MIND,DAD SPEAKS OF HIS HEARTBREAK

Paul’s legacy continues onward and his good heart is certainly not forgotten. In fact, Paul remains in the hearts of many, including his father’s, Paul Walker III, who opened up in a touching interview with E News about how Paul is with him every day.

“Paul just radiated love and you can’t fake that. I thought, ‘How did I deserve such a wonderful  son?'” Paul III said.

Paul III will be remembering his son on the anniversary of his death by visiting his gravesite. He’s planning on playing a coin game they made up and would play during Paul’s casting calls. It warms our hearts to know that Paul III will feel his son’s presence during his sweet tribute.

PSG striker Zlatan Ibrahimovic has posted a photo of him and Ronaldo, who he has described as 'the best player of all time'.

The two strikers have followed similar paths in their careers, with both having played for Inter Milan, AC Milan and Barcelona. Both players also rose to prominence while playing in the Eredivisie.

Ibrahimovic isn't known for his modesty but, when it comes to Ronaldo, the former Malmo youth player is more than willing to concede the Brazilian is the better player.

In an interview with Sports illustrated, he said: 'The best opponent of my career? I've played against many, many good players, so I don't know who to keep.

'But I would say Ronaldo, 'El Fenomeno'. Why? Because he was my idol and because, as a football player, he was complete.

'There will never, in my view, be a better player than him.'

Ziona Chana has 39 wives, 94 children, 14 daughters-in-law and 33 grandchildren. They all live with him in his hotel-like 100-room, four-story house perched among the hills of Baktwang village in the Indian state of Mizoram.

One year, he married ten wives. Two of them sisters. His 39 wives say they are blessed to have him and take turns to share his bed.

It takes 30 whole chickens, peel 132lb of potatoes and boil up to 220lb of rice to make dinner for this family.

The family is organised with almost military discipline, with the oldest wife Zathiangi organising her fellow partners to perform household chores such as cleaning, washing and preparing meals.
Coincidentally, Mr Chana is said to head a sect that allows members to take as many wives as they want.

Rinkmini, one of Mr Chana's wives who is now 38 years old, said:
'We stay around him as he is the most important person in the house. He is the most handsome person in the village.

BRISTOL SEX GANG JAILED FOR GROOOMING GIRLS

Thirteen men have been convicted of a string of child sex crimes in Bristol involving the abuse, rape and prostitution of teenage girls.

Bristol Crown Court heard one victim, aged 16, was assaulted by five Somali men after she was moved to the city while in the care of another authority.

Her 14-year-old sister was violently raped by one member of the same gang.

The inquiry led to police uncovering another gang of Somali origin who had been abusing four other girls.

The four teenagers were paid £30 or given drugs, alcohol and gifts to perform sex acts on older men from the Somali community.

The court heard some were persuaded to have sex with other gang members as they were told by the gang it was Somali "culture and tradition" and "men always have sex with each other's girlfriends".

One 13-year-old victim was raped four times by three different men in a Premier Inn in Bristol city centre.

A serious case review is now being carried out.

Exploiting girls

The thirteen men, all from the Bristol area, were convicted of charges including rape, sexual activity with a child, facilitating child prostitution, trafficking and paying for the sexual services of a child.

Six were jailed following a trial during the summer. The remaining seven were convicted on Wednesday.

Details of the two cases - which showed grooming and abuse dating back to 2011 - can only now be revealed after reporting restrictions were lifted.

The first trial centred on a group of drug dealers from Easton in Bristol and their exploitation of primarily one teenage girl.

She had been moved into a flat on her own in the city and left almost unsupervised by social workers from outside the area.

The second trial focused on another group of young men and their grooming and subsequent sexual abuse of young girls.

Tried in July and sentenced for up to 13 years in jail:

• Mustapha Farah, 21, Liban Abdi, 22, and Arafat Osman, 20, were each jailed for 13 years for paying for the sexual services of a child and supplying Class A drugs
• Abdulahi Aden, 20, was jailed for 13 years for rape and supplying Class A drugs
• Mustafa Deria, 22, was found guilty of rape and was jailed for seven-and-a-half years
• Idleh Osman, 22, was jailed for 10 years for facilitating child prostitution and supplying Class A drugs

Tried in November and due to be sentenced on Friday:

• Sakariah Sheik, 21, Abdirashid Abdulahi, 21, and Jusuf Abdirizak, 20, were found guilty of rape
• Mohamed Dahir, 22, was found guilty of causing child prostitution
• Omar Jumale, 20, found guilty of having sex with a child
• Said Zakaria, 22 was found guilty of rape and having sex with a child
• Mohamed Jumale, age 24, found guilty of sex with a child

EBOLA VACCINE: SCIENTISTS SAY ITS PROMISING AFTER HUMAN TRIAL

A 39-year-old woman was the first volunteer to receive the experimental Ebola vaccine

The first human trial of an experimental vaccine against Ebola suggests that it is safe and may help the immune system to combat the virus.

Twenty volunteers were immunised in the United States. Scientists at the US National Institutes of Health (NIH) described the results as "promising".

The research is published in the New England Journal of Medicine(NEJM).

None of those immunised suffered major side-effects and all produced antibodies.

Dr Anthony Fauci of the NIH told the BBC: "On safety and on the ability to produce an appropriate immune response we can call this trial an unqualified success, even though it was an early Phase One trial."

The volunteers were divided into two groups, receiving either a low or high dose. The antibody response was stronger among those receiving the higher dose.

The investigators found that seven of the high dose and two of the lose dose volunteers produced T-cell immune responses, which may be important in protection against Ebola viruses.

The vaccine uses a chimpanzee cold virus which has been genetically engineered to carry a non-infectious Ebola protein on its surface.

GOBE! NATIONAL DEBT RISES TO N10.8tn

The total debt of the Federal Government,   the 36 states of the federation and the Federal Capital Territory rose from N8.32tn on September 30, 2013 to N10.84tn on September 30, 2014.

This means that the nation’s total debt stock rose by N2.52tn or   30.29 per cent within one year period.

Statistics obtained from the website of the Debt Management Office in Abuja on Monday indicated that the N8.32tn did not include the domestic debt of the states in 2013.

Details of the current debt status of the country showed that the external debts of both the federal and state governments stood at $9.52bn or N1.48tn.

As of September 30, the domestic debt stock of the Federal Government alone stood at $49.12bn or N7.65tn. The domestic debt of states, on the other hand, stood at $10.97bn or N1.71tn.

In comparison, the external debt of both the federal and state governments stood at N1.28tn (or $8.26bn) as of September 30, 2013. Also, the domestic debt of the Federal Government a year ago stood at N7.03tn.

Dissecting the Federal Government’s current domestic debt of N7.65tn by instruments, the Federal Government Bond contributed N4.6tn or 60.12 per cent to the profile; the Nigerian Treasury Bills contributed N2.74tn or 35.76 per cent while Treasury Bonds contributed N315.39bn or 4.12 per cent.

As of June 2014, out of a total external debt of $3.01bn owed by the states, the Lagos State Government owed $1.02bn.

Other major holders of the country’s external sub-national debts include Kaduna State which owes $245.51m and Cross River State, $120.21m. Others are Ogun   $116.69m; Bauchi, $111.61m; and Oyo,   $80.11m.

The states least exposed to foreign debts are Borno, $16.07m; Plateau, $22.99m; Taraba, $24.06m; Delta, $24.7m; and Benue, $28.79m.

However, in comparison to the nation’s total external indebtedness, the states owed 32.13 per cent; leaving the Federal Government with 67.87 per cent.

Loans from China Export Import Bank and monies raised from Eurobond accounted for $2.54bn of the Federal Government’s $6.36bn external debt while multilateral sources accounted for $3.82bn.

As of June 2013, the nation’s total external loan stood at $6.92bn. This means that over a period of one year, the country’s external debt rose by $2.46bn, showing 35.51 per cent increase.

The growth of the nation’s debt stock can be seen in the budget for debt servicing. The Federal Government plans to spend N2.08tn servicing the country’s debt within the next three years.

The figures for debt servicing as well as the county’s debt stock are contained in the Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper of the Federal Government.

MONEY SPENDERS: NIGERIANS TOP TRANSACTIONS AT INDONESIA TRADE EXPO

The Indonesian Trade Promotion Centre in Lagos on Tuesday announced that Nigeria topped the list of trade transactions from West African countries in the 2014 Trade Expo Indonesia.

ITPC’s Deputy Director, Mr Bona Kusuma, told the News Agency of Nigeria in Lagos that Nigeria recorded about 21.2 million dollars (N3.5 billion), Togo 6.4 million dollars, Ghana 3.7 million dollars, Cameroon 2.7 million dollars and Republic of Benin 1.9 million dollars.

“From available statistics from West African countries’ transactions in the 2014 TEI, Nigeria recorded the highest level of transaction among Togo, Ghana, Cameroon and Benin.

“And the total transactions of these West African countries at the expo amounted to 35.8 million dollars with Nigeria leading the list of West Africa countries,” he said.

Bona said the expo which held from Oct. 8 to Oct. 12 in Jakarta exposed participants from the region to Indonesian electric lamps, agricultural products, herbal products and medical products.

He said the participants were also exposed to Indonesian’s textile products, food and beverages, margarine, soaps, sardine, paper, cosmetics and rubber products as well as barge and tug boats.

Bona said the expo had afforded Nigerians opportunities to explore the business in Indonesia.

“TEI is an annual event designed to promote high quality Indonesian-made products and services to the global market, improve business and investment networking.

“The expo gave opportunities to Nigerians and other visitors from West Africa to meet one-on-one with different Indonesian products and service exhibitors,” he said.

Bona expressed satisfaction with the growing interest of some Nigerians in doing business with Indonesians.

The official said that the Indonesian Government would continue to improve on its bilateral relations in the years ahead.

Bona expressed optimism that by the end of 2014, the trade volume between Nigeria and Indonesia would have risen by 30 percent.
