Melinda, who was named Miss SA in 2011, and Adriaan, who became the youngest Mr South Africa when he was crowned in the same year, got engaged in Dubai in November last year
Taking to Twitter on the big day, Adriaan gushed about what a lucky man he is to be marrying the woman of his dreams. He tweeted: "Finally the wedding day has arrived.. Its only been six years since I first said I will marry @melindabam one-day.. #Persistence #GodIsGood"
Melinda and Adriaan in early 2013 confirmed rampant rumours that they were dating.
The romantic Mr SA, during an exclusive interview with YOU magazine, revealed that he’s been dreaming about making Melinda his lady for years, since he saw her on the University of Pretoria campus in 2008
"I slapped my friend on the back and told him one day she would be my girl," Adriaan told the magazine.
Melinda and Adriaan both studied at the Pretoria University - he a BSc in Quantity Surveying and she a B.Com in Marketing - and it was shortly after her return from the Miss Universe pageant in New York that Melinda strongly hinted with a twitter message that Adriaan’s dream had finally come true.
"Luckiest girl alive! Back home after being treated like a princess by @adriaanberghsa in NYC," read the caption accompanying a photo of them.
Melinda a few days before her wedding day raved about her "new Golden #wedding locks" on Twitter, and Adriaan's best man seemed as excited about the wedding as the groom himself
He tweeted: "Today my 'little brother' @adriaanberghsa gets married. I am very proud to be his Best Man. Congratulations @adriaanberghsa en @melindabam Enjoy the day"
